Just like any hardworking tool, modern short guns also need proper maintenance. In fact, high-tech surface treatment and advanced technology can improve the performance of the Chiappa Lever Shotgun.

Well, with proper maintenance, you need to preserve this valuable asset. A regular cleaning and maintenance routine is important for shotguns. By choosing the right type of tools, you can achieve your goal and avoid pitfalls.

However, the steps to clean the shotgun depend on how you maintain and use it. This blog shares some valuable tips on shotgun maintenance.

Step One: Unload The Shotgun

If you have a Chiappa 1887 Lever-Action Shotgun, you need to first upload the gun to ensure safety. Also, if the gun is loaded, make sure it is pointing in a safe direction, and make sure to go through a proper check visually and technically.

Step Two: Clean The Shotgun

For shotguns, it is very important to perform a partial take-down that also includes removing the barrel for cleaning. You should clearly check the manufacturer’s instructions for more details. Clearly check the watch for springs and small parts inside the cup and other containers.

Using a cleaning tool is essential for this step. You can use a utility brush or cleaning swabs that can be found within the bolt, receiver, frame, and chamber. You can remove the heavy fouling that can be removed with light applications.

If you are using a brush, you should run it completely through the barrel before reversing. It's better to follow up the bore cleaning with several dry ones.

Step Three: Apply Lubrication

Once you have cleaned up the action, bolt, and receiver, you need to completely lubricate the moving parts. It depends on the type of firearm you would clean, and we recommend proper lubrication. You should never apply lubricants inside the barrel chamber.

Also, remember, more is never better when it comes to using lubrication. You need to adequately lubricate the gun as needed. Also, lubricating cloths is a good idea as this will control the level of moisture.

Bottom Line

Lastly, you should wipe down all the components and make sure everything is dry before applying the protector. If you need further help to keep up your gun collections, please get in touch with us.
